Contamination Control Breathers round out line

Tuesday, June 7th, 2005

Des-Case is pleased to announce the extension of its full line breather offering with the launch of the DoublePlay and TriplePlay.

Des-Case Corporation today announced the extension of its full line breather offering with the launch of the DoublePlay™ and TriplePlay™. These breathers are ideal for blocking free water and preventing microscopic particles from entering fluid containing reservoirs. The TriplePlay also offers an oil coalescing media which keeps oil mist from entering the work environment.

The DoublePlay™ and TriplePlay™ provide the ideal solution for the management of lubricant condition in low humidity applications and continuous operation applications with frequent washdowns. By preventing water droplets from entering the oil reservoir, yet permitting air to escape, the breather lowers the relative humidity inside the reservoir and significantly reduces condensation. The breathers provide a large surface area and are 99.5% efficient in blocking
particles 1 micron and larger, making them ideal for arid, high dust environments. On the TriplePlay™, the internal pleated media surface incorporates an oil coalescing layer, which drains any oil droplets back to the reservoir.

Designed with ABS plastic to withstand rugged environments, the lightweight breathers are easily installed and only need to be hand-tightened. The 40 cfm airflow rating is higher than that of a typical desiccant breather. The recommended visual vacuum indicator option actuates when maximum restriction has been reached.

“The addition of these two products helps round out our breather line,” said Brian Gleason, president of Des-Case Corporation. “By providing a barrier to free water, accompanied by a higher airflow rating and a large surface area to capture particulate, we extend our reach into some very niche applications.”

Des-Case Corporation helps solve contamination issues for pump users

Monday, September 15th, 2003

Introduction of niche VentGuard™ breather addresses market needs

Des-Case Corporation, an innovator of breather technology for industrial markets, has launched a new range of desiccant breather filters specially
designed to prevent contamination in circulating pump systems. The new VentGuard™breathers offer pump users’ greater reliability over traditional breather vents, which provide very little to no protection against moisture and dirt.

Ideal for small to mid-size ANSI and API pumps, VentGuard breathers offer superior protection, helping to maximize the mean time between failures and optimize production output. Two products are included in this initial rollout, the VentGuard VG-1 and the VentGuard VG-4.

The VG-1 is a simple, yet effective miniature breather model that incorporates desiccant and filtration media. The VG-4 is a hybrid technology breather that provides the ideal solution for the management of lubricant condition where there is an increased incidence of bearing and seal failures due to moisture ingress.

The patent-pending design of the VG-4 incorporates the drying capability of desiccant, the cleaning capability of a 3μ filter media, and the sealing capability of an expansion chamber. By combining these proven technologies into one cost-effective package, VentGuard effectively eliminates ingression of dirt and water through vent ports.

Des-Case Corporation wins ExxonMobil contract

Green’ breather boosts lubricant life, complements lube services

Des-Case® Corporation, a leading manufacturer of desiccant breathers, today announced the signing of a cooperative private label agreement with ExxonMobil Lubricants and Petroleum Specialties Company in Fairfax, Va.

Under terms of the partnership, Des-Case will private label its existing line of disposable breathers for ExxonMobil. The products will be marketed under the tradenames ‘Exxon OilShieldTM’ and ‘Mobil LubeGuardTM’ and will be sold as ancillary products exclusively through ExxonMobil distributors in the United States.

“The addition of an environmentally responsible breather which boosts lubricant life enables ExxonMobil to offer customers a full suite of lubrication services,” said Brian Gleason, Des-Case general manager. “With their focus on value-added service solutions, this product was an essential addition to their line.”

Des-Case breathers, the first breathers to be used in industry, incorporate a patented design to filter out water and particulate contamination on gearboxes, hydraulic reservoirs, and storage and process tanks. With little or no equipment modifications, the breather replaces the standard filler/breather cap on such devices and can boost lubricant and machine life substantially.
